About Us

Hey! Thank you for visiting our website!
Welcome to Type 1 Tid Bits!
We're a family team in the heart of Lancashire run by diabetic siblings, Big Sister JoJo and Little Brother Cameron. Bringing you amazing diabetes tips, facts and learning, accessories, gifts and stuff to jazz up your type 1!

I'm Jo, Type 1 Diabetic, and have been since '95.

I grew up in an era where Diabetes was lonely, treatment was primitive and life restricted. I didn't know anyone else with type 1, and hid my condition to avoid bullying and being seen as ''different''. I couldn't do things that other kids did, school trips, sleepovers and day trips. I spent my teenage years with terrible control, no support, and if i'm honest it was the start of a terrible spiral.

Then along came my little brother, my life changed. I promised his tiny eyes that i'd never let him down and that i'd always be there for him. In order to do that, i needed to be healthy. I took control of my diabetes, i pushed to get enrolled on a DAFNE (carb counting) course. I spent all of my spare time online learning about diabetes and it's management. I pushed to be moved to a new doctor as the one i had was very old fashioned in her management and advice, and my HbA1c gradually began to come down from the whopping 17.7% it was at it's worst. It's now 4.7%!

Unfortunately one of my biggest fears came true when Cameron began showing symptoms. He was diagnosed almost 20 years to the day to my diagnosis.

Over the last few years we have navigated type 1 together. I taught him how to handle his own finger pricks and injections, we've seen technology evolve, migrated from Flash sensors to CGMs together and from pens, to pumps and hybrid closed loops.

We show off our kit, our condition and share information about it wherever we can.

This is a way for us to continue navigating type 1 together, keeping it fun and refusing to ever let it get us down. We're both super positive people, and we hope spread that to others. We both know, and if you've found our site, you probably know too, Diabetes can be a real pain. This started as a way for Cameron and I to add a positive spin to our condition, and hopefully share some positive with other type 1's and their families too.

I am qualified in many holistic areas of mental health support, healing and nutrition and hope you find the blogs, tips and advice posted on our site helpful and positive.

Thank you for reading! Feel free to reach out if there's anything you need!

Being diabetic can be really annoying, and sometimes i hate it, but doing something fun can make it so much better. I really enjoy showing off my robot bits and helping people learn what they do.

We hope we can help you boost your confidence and bring some smiles and positivity to you.
